Special Event Permits

It’s winter! In South Florida, this time of year marks the busy season. During this time of year each East of Collins city will play host to a plethora of special events and outdoor activities. From our breathtaking beaches to buzzing streets and walkways and world-class hotels, the cities of Sunny Isles Beach, Bal Harbour, Surfside, and Miami Beach have endless unique venue options. By assisting producers, event planners, and staff with guidelines and permit requirements, serving as a liaison with local and regional city services and neighborhood associations, East of Collins Expediting can help minimize lead time, avoid overpaying fees, and rejected applications.

The East of Collins Expediting team is here to guide you through the process of applying for your special event permit and any additional requirements in order to comply with the city. Our process begins with understanding and outlining your event, so that we cover all basis to complete a thorough permit application and apply for any additional permits or licenses. During the internal and external review processes, the committee and community may feel it necessary to impose specific requirements upon your event, of which the East of Collins Expediting team will be there to assist you in completing. Coordination with city services is also part of our scope of work, as well as, any necessary coordination with the county, state, and federal governments. The East of Collins Expediting team will be there to assist you right through event day, helping to mitigate any issues as they arise.

In addition to special event permits, many applicants often require a short term event permit. In most cities, any event that lasts 45 days or less where temporary structures and facilities are required fall into this category. A few examples of short term events are the sale of holiday items, carnivals, circuses, and sporting tournaments. There are several requirements and steps that need to be completed in order to obtain a short term event permit and the East of Collins Expediting team will be there to assist you. In addition to completing the permit application and any trade related permits (ie. electrical, plumbing, or mechanical permits) that might be applicable, detailed plans showing various logistics of the event layout, structures, and surrounding areas will also be required.

Greater Miami and the Beaches is a popular location for the filming and setting of movies, television shows, and commercials. This tropical paradise is also popular amongst photographers and art directors as the perfect backdrop for photo shoots. In each case, special permits will be required. Although each city has its own set of requirements, you will need these three things to apply: indemnity agreement, certificate of insurance, and permit application. Additional guidelines are required for vehicle beach access and residential filming.
